Transfers and mobility

In this article you will discover how came the idea of the project : a common goal to encourage mobility and improve employability within students and to work together on a european scale to transfer expertise in creating e-learning tools.

In November 2007 a first group of German kitchen and hotel trainees accomplished a successful work placement in hotels and restaurants in Lower Normandy.  This action took place at the end of a transnational project : INTEGRATOUR, instigated under Equal, and followed a similar placement of French trainees in Brandenburg.

Following the success of this action, the local partners in Neuruppin expressed a strong wish to continue exchanges and a new network was created and found financial help partly through the Robert Bosch Foundation, and partly through Leonardo.

Two work placements followed and funds were made available for further hours of preparation using the e-GRETA tool.  The “Netzwerk Neuruppin” gained impetus and developed into “HOGATRANS” strongly devoted to the use of mobility schemes to improve employability.

Funding was provided by IdA, ‘Integration through Mobility, and the beneficiaries’ profiles made preparation even more important. The adaptation of e-GRETA for this public in need of greater support was felt more keenly. The language difficulties became more evident.

The necessity to transfer this emprical approach in order to create fully adapted tools has been felt by many partners, including those who have worked with the GIP-FCIP team before and have been discussed on several occasions – particular Scottish and Polish partners involved with the same target groups who are planning further placement schemes.

Our experience so far, shows how the creation of European teams working efficiently together to promote the success of mobility schemes is nonetheless limited by the lack of truly adapted preparation tools – particularly for beneficiaries whose initial training has not developed a vocation for language studies.

Our project, comes within the scope of preparation by each partner wishing to develop the mobility of beneficiaries – in view of the ECVET system in the medium term.

As we know the ECVET will be based on transparency and trust between partners through a quality assurance approach.

Ecuisine should be seen as an opportunity  for further development

The Lower Normandy region has recently noted the need to improve the language skills of hospitality employees.

These observations are shared by the German, Scottish, and Polish stakeholders. The mobility of vocational trainees and students becomes paramount.
