Quick Seminar Debrief

Last week was our second seminar, an important step for all the partners : an opportunity to get together and find out the practical details about our collaboration the final outcome of the project.

The Scottish partner, Anniesland College, and the German partner, Technologie- und Gründerzentrum Ostprignitz-Ruppin GmbH [DE], came to France in Caen for 2 days. Unfortunately, the polish partners from 36°6CC couldn't come but Mosqi.to, the sub-contractor in charge of the design, brought a Polish touch to this meeting.

Many things were agreed on at this meeting :

  • use of a YouTube Chanel to host and broadcast the videos used in the project,
  • some major desgin elements,
  • the structure of the courses,
  • the authoring softwares we'll be using
  • and the role of the teachers/content producers in this project.
To explain the structure of the project, we made a mindmap :

This tree shows the detailed structure of one recipe. The idea is to have each recipe broken down into steps. Those steps are techniques that are essential in the training of a cook : washing vegetables, cleaning his workstation, baking a pie, choosing and storing products, etc.

Also, each institution will identify the most important linguistic elements from each recipe. What words does a french student following the scottish cooking course need to know in order to understand the recipe ?

To achieve this goal we supplement each cooking course with a word bank and activities for students to understand and memorize the new vocabulary : ingredients, tools, actions, all they will need to know if they decide to take a cooking course abroad.

Each partner is free to work however they want to. They will deliver a SCORM package that will be made available through our Learning Management System, an online platform dedicated to educational matters.

While the French team will use Articulate Storyline to produce the SCORM package, the Scottish team will mainly use Adobe Captivate. Both are leading products in the Elearning industry and ensure the quality of the final product.

Mosqi.to, the polish partner in charge of the design will provide us all with the appropriate templates so that the final product has an homogenous look and feel. Also, they will heavily customize Moodle in order to make it nice and shiny, but above all user friendly.

Last but not least, we now have a YouTube Channel ! It's very basic for now. We only have videos for one recipe: the Norman Pie ! It will evolve drastically in the forthcoming months as Mosqi.to customizes the UI and each partner adds it's own videos. So stay tuned on EcuisineTV !
