Association "Les petits plats dans les grands"

It was important for the project us to be backed up by cooking professionals. So we decided to have l'association "Les petits plats dans les grands" (French version of "Host with The Most") onboard with us.

Last week we visited Thierry Lhuilery, head of the association and happy owner of the charming "Le Pommier" ("The Apple Tree"), one of Bayeux's most exquisite attractions !

Thierry was very helpful in suggesting ideas for our language course and let us take picture in his restaurant !

Read more about their involvement in the project after the break.

President : Mr Thierry Lhuillery

One of the outcomes of an Equal project called "Convergences dans les métiers de l'hôtellerie restauration" was the creation of a trust called “les Petits Plats dans les Grands”, association of hospitality enterprises strongly committed to the promotion of the trade sector by placing the accent on good working conditions.

Thus, successful initiatives related to training and vocational orientation, human resources management, and sustainability have been created.

It is an organisation typically involved in CSR in a sector which has to promote its attractiveness. The president of the association has successfully integrated young disabled adults and is an expert in the support of the disadvantaged in their integration pathways.

The association is backed up by the UMIH of Calvados the corporate entrepreneurs’ union of restaurants and Hotels and various stakeholders among which the lifelong training department of the “Région Basse Normandie”.

The entrepreneurs committed to the ethos and values of “Les petits plats dans les grands” are very keen on approaches liable to enhance the value of the trade which sometimes suffer from a poor image . The  specifications and  training design content , will be presented to them  from the outset and their feedback will be required for the assessment of the tools.

It will provide the project with the expertise of its volunteers: entrepreneurs of the trade and stakeholders, members of the association. Thierry Lhuillery, president, owner of the restaurant “Le Pommier”, is involved in the implementation of the IDA mobility scheme in Bayeux for the German beneficiaries and welcomes German trainees three times a year.

He is perfectly aware of their needs as regards linguistic competency and understanding of all the issues concerning the adaptation to  the French work culture. His feedback will be paramount to create adapted and relevant tools.
